To cap off 2007 and celebrate the holiday season, the staff at Smiley Law Group’s New Orleans office made a holiday trip to Seattle to view the new office and have some fun.
“This trip was important for our office workers in New Orleans who have worked so hard to support the new Seattle venture,” says Scott Smiley, founding partner of the firm. “On the flip side, our Seattle staff was excited to see the new faces and support, and was in need of the short break.”
Smiley Law Group plans to take a similar trip each year to celebrate the prior days and discuss the future.
The trip began on Friday, December 14th, when office staff from both New Orleans and Seattle spent the morning and afternoon volunteering at the North Pole for the Forgotten Children’s Fund. The charity is an institution in Seattle, and organizes the distribution of Christmas gifts to children from less fortunate families. We spent the day selecting and wrapping gifts for families.
The Forgotten Children’s Fund event was the firm’s first “Volunteer Day.” The practice is currently coordinating with local charities in New Orleans and Seattle to establish a volunteer program, whereby our staff will volunteer for one paid workday per month. We hope to announce the dedicated day and the participating charities in January 2008.
