Smiley Law Firm, LLC is proud to announce that it will not be charging for initial consultations. The historically construction law firm is broadening its scope to include new practice areas such as Commercial Collections, Landlord / Tenant, Business Formation, Mediation and Personal Injury.
Due to the nature of these new practice areas, managing attorney Seth J. Smiley, did not see a need to continue the flat fee initial consultation. In order to schedule a free telephone or in-person consultation all potential clients need to do is fill out the form on at the bottom of this page or any page on the site. If that is not a good option then potential clients can call the firm phone number 504-517-0359.

Not Free Legal Advice
Do not confuse an initial consultation with retaining an attorney or a chance to get free legal advice. An initial consultation is used for both the attorney can client to determine if the pair can work together in order to reach the legal needs and goals of the client. After the initial consultation both the potential client and/or the attorney can choose to decline representation.
The goal of a initial consultation is also one where legal advice will not be given. When attorneys start giving out legal advice to non-clients, it creates the potential for an attorney-client relationship to be established. At Smiley Law, the only way to establish this type of relationship is with a written fee agreement contract.
Once the potential client lays out all its facts and shows all of its document proof, the attorney will decide whether to take the case. From there he will ask the attorney to sign a fee agreement, whether it be hourly or contingency, and then representation will commence. This is usually a quick process taking under a week and many times happening same day.
From there Smiley Law will put your information and case into our sophisticated legal technology usingMyCase and other management tools. You as a new Smiley Law client will be updated on your case as it progresses, via email and other means.
We look forward to being your attorney for life.
