Exciting things are happening at the Smiley Law Firm, both for our clients and our team of standout attorneys. Here are some of the most exciting that we are proud to share with you.
2 Smiley Law Firm Attorneys Named 2019 Louisiana Rising Stars by Super Lawyers
First, Seth Smiley and Bradley Aldrich were recently selected for the 2019 Louisiana Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers. Every year, Super Lawyers chooses the Louisiana attorneys who are the most outstanding in the practice of law.
Super Lawyers is a service that rates attorneys in order to let the public know about which attorneys are the best in their geographic vicinity, or which excel in the area of practice where they need representation.
Super Lawyers has its own magazine, Super Lawyers Magazine, which is given to ABA-accredited law school libraries and law offices. Super Lawyers chooses from lawyers in all 50 states and in the District of Columbia.
The Rising Stars list includes attorneys who are either 40 years old or younger or who have only been in practice for 10 years or less.
Only 2.5% of attorneys that qualify are named to the Rising Stars list, which means that Aldrich, Mau, and Smiley rank as some of the top attorneys in the entire state.
It is Smiley’s third year on the list and Aldrich’s fourth year on the list.
Seth Smiley Receives Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating
In addition to being named to the Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers, Seth Smiley also received the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating. Only 10% of attorneys in the country have achieved the same status.
Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating is given only to the attorneys who have the highest ethical standards and ability practicing law. In order to qualify for the award, an attorney must submit the names of peer attorneys who can peer rate their skill and ability.
To submit the names, you must have the peer’s current email that is associated with Martindale-Hubbell.
Attorneys must have at least 18 peers to qualify for the award, but 20-25 or more attorneys or judges are the norm for attorneys who qualify. The peer attorneys and judges must be familiar with a lawyer’s capability and ethical practices (and judges are not allowed as peer references in 4 states–Connecticut, Georgia, New Jersey, and South Carolina).
Also, to receive a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, you must be listed on Martindale.com.
Once a lawyer submits references to Martindale-Hubbell, peers have two weeks to respond. If an attorney receives a peer review rating, they are notified by Martindale-Hubbell and an announcement is made to the public.
Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings are helpful because they serve as a resource for attorneys who are looking to refer clients to good attorneys. They also serve as an indicator of a talented attorney if an individual is seeking an attorney who can represent them.
This is the first time that Smiley received this rating from Martindale-Hubbell. You can read more about his recent accomplishment here: “Martindale-Hubbell Congratulates Our New AV Preeminent Peer Rated Attorneys” .
