My wife is owed in excess of $30,000 by a family member in Natchitoches. My security is a promissory note. The note is about four (4) years old and over a year past due. I would place a lien on his real estate in Texas but do not know what all my options are in Louisiana.

Hey, thanks for the comment. The process in Louisiana is not the same as you describe in Texas. You would need a judgment on the promissory note in order to file against real estate. I’m happy to discuss this with you in more detail. Give the office a call 504-894-9653 or email us contact@smileyfirm.com. Thanks!
